Last week I wrote about how mortgage fraud can occur simply because the appraiser is almost universally told what you agreed to pay for the house BEFORE he even sees it himself. So, why can't you depend on the individual honesty and character of each of America's home appraisers? You can - at your own peril.
If, on the other hand, you actually want to try and infuse objectivity into the appraisal process, ask your mortgage broker, in writing, preferably by email, fax or some other means of tracking the delivery NOT TO REVEAL THE CONTRACT PRICE!
Simple. Finished. Done. You hope. You see, that mortgage broker would rather close the deal you have rather than the deal you could get in a few more weeks because this appraisal is objective and doesn't warrant funding. Next week, find a mortgage broker you know and hopefully, can trust.
