How Long Can the TRCC Take?
As long as they want. A homeowner in Houston filed his complaint in May of 2008.The inspector conducted the inspection in August 2008. In early November, the report finding over 100 items against the builder including major structural defects was issued.
The builder or homeowner only has 15 days to file an appeal from the date the report is received by Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested. The builder filed late. The TRCC allowed the appeal anyway. Two months have gone by and the appeal is just sitting there.
How long can the TRCC take? As long as they want.
Hopefully, the Legislature will abolish the TRCC because the way it works now is solely for the protection of the home builders.
