In January 2009, a Harris County jury found in favor of a Plaintiff against the world's largest relocation company, Cartus Financial. Later, at a hearing to enter the Judgment, Judge Randy Wilson decided to throw the verdict out and hold in favor of the mega-giant corporation, a division of Merrill-Lynch.
Judge Randy Wilson made the decision on facts and an issue that Cartus Financial did not even ask for. In other words, Judge Randy Wilson made his decision on his own, something he could have done during the trial or before it started. Usually, when a judge throws a Plaintiff out of Court, they do so once the Plaintiffs' evidence is complete. Or even before the jury spends 4-6 hours deliberating. But not this judge. Randy Wilson is no friend of the Consumers, but he must truly be a champion for the corporate bailout recipient Merrill-Lynch.
These issues could have been considered on the appeal except that the homeowner could not continue fighting when the costs of appeal alone were $5000 - not even counting attorneys' fees.
If you live in Harris County, and you are a homeowner, you would do well to vote for anyone BUT Judge Randy Wilson.
