WHAT SHOULD I SEND THE ADJUSTOR IN MY HURRICANE CLAIM?
Send the worst! If you send the adjustor everything after a hurricane, then you will be giving them some of your material that may not be so convincing. Don't do it. Adjustors are not there to help you. If you send it all, then they will cherry pick the items favorable to them. Even if there are photos or videotape of the hurricane damage that are truly terrible, they will point to the good in your file. Not only is this frustrating, it is maddening because it does not negate the devastation and disruption the hurricane has caused.
If you cherry pick the bad items, then you are controlling the message. It is not a matter of trying to fool or dupe the insurance adjustor about your hurricane damage. No, it is more basic than that. It is about getting what you are entitled to recover under the policy of insurance that you have faithfully paid for over the years. Now that there is a hurricane and your home is damaged or destroyed, you should be able to recover what you need to make the repairs and get on with your life. Sadly, many, many adjustors and insurance companies want only to settle your claim for the least amount possible. The sooner you accept this reality, the sooner you can adjust your own claim in your favor.
It is not just the hurricane photos you want to cherry pick. Do it with estimates. Send the ones most favorable to you. If you send estimates for $10,000 and $15,000, you can be sure the only offer will be from the lower offer.
Send the bad pictures. Hold the rest. Send the highest estimate. Hold the rest.
