After a hurricane, record everything that anyone from your insurance company says to you. You are permitted to use a voice recording of your telephone conversation and you do NOT have to disclose or announce that you are recording the conversation.
If you do not have a voice recorder, then immediately write your notes about what was just said. If you wait, you will lose it and you will give the insurance company an opportunity to dispute your truthfulness.
It is a good idea to have a calendar and make notes on the dates you talk to the insurance company.
The next blog will be about what NOT to say to the insurance company.
